The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for conducting the biological sampling activities related to each clinical trial. This position assists with the preparation, collection, documentation and shipment of biological specimens for each study and reports to the Laboratory Coordinator(s).
Essential Job Functions
Conducts all operational activities within the laboratory related to the preparation of sample collection containers, processing biological specimens, performing testing, documenting procedures, and preparing specimen shipments. Ensures that all lab procedures are done correctly with minimal error.
Follows the policies and procedures for laboratory facilities and equipment maintenance. Oversees all lab handling and storage for all processed samples according to protocol; supervises all shipments in accordance with IATA specifications and standards.
Assists with the inventory, storage, and maintenance of study supplies, lab ware, and instruments essential to the operation of the laboratory.
Reviews laboratory processing documents for accuracy and provides verification of specimen quality. Possesses advanced specimen handling skills.
High School diploma required
College coursework in a scientific field preferred
Minimum of one year prior research laboratory experience preferred
Attends any internal or external training sessions/seminars for personal development
Previous lab experience required.

IATA certified Handling of Dangerous Goods Certificate
Attends CPR/BLS training
